Rock Radio Cafe, Alabang (circa 2002)

Rock Radio Philippines – A Pinoy Rock Blog

From 2000 to 2002 a community broadcast station rocked southern metro manila. It’s programming was everything rock and roll from local to international. Specialty shows were the major back bone of this low power fm station playing music from heavy metal to pop rock. It was an instant hit and many locals from Laguna, Paranaque, Alabang, and Las Pinas were tuned in as much as they could. Some listeners would fix their home fm antennas or listen in their cars just to get rock radio.

Run by a bunch of commited music freaks rock radio branched out to opening a rock venue. The station now had a rock venue to host many great pinoy rock events. Some major players in the music industry got their start at the venue and most aquired a bigger fan base. The success of rock radio cafe was fast but due to unforseen circumstances they were forced to shut down.

Ten years after it closed down this blog was created to continue what rock radio was meant to do: Support the philippine band scene.

Though the radio/bar no longer exists the music still continues. RRC refuses to miss out and the great music local bands are churning out. This blog will showcase some of the old demos the venue acquired during its stint in the hopes of getting hold of some new/rare material from local pinoy artists.
